Shana J. Black was admitted to the California bar in 2000. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and her Juris Doctorate from University of San Diego School of Law in 2000, cum laude. She was a member of the San Diego Law Review, serving with distinction, and a Merit Scholarship Recipient at the University of San Diego School of Law from 1997 to 2000. She has received numerous awards for her legal and community work, including the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services, CALI Award for High Achievement in Trusts and Estates and International Civil Litigation, and recognition by the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. Prior to entering law school, she taught Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Econometrics as a graduate assistant and adjunct faculty member.

    General Business and Corporate Law

    Ms. Black’s business law experience includes business formation and entity structuring, and providing legal guidance to sole proprietorships, limited liability companies, partnerships, and domestic and international corporations. Ms. Black counsels clients in drafting corporate and human resource policies, the structuring of commercial transactions, the negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts, purchase and sale agreements, licensing agreements, employment contracts, and leases. She has represented clients and/or managed outside litigation counsel in a wide range of areas including trademark litigation, class action lawsuits, breaches of contract, employment disputes, interference with business relationships, wage and hour issues, and disputes over non-compete clauses.

    Family Law

    Shana J. Black’s representation of family law clients is near and dear to her heart. What began as pro-bono work and a commitment to those less fortunate in her community developed into a significant portion of her practice. She personalizes her approach to each case, providing aggressive, passionate representation, in an understanding and collaborative manner. At every step, she explains the process and potential outcomes, and zealously advocates for her client. Her representation is both affordable and of the highest quality.     Alcoholic Beverage Law

    Shana J. Black’s alcoholic beverage law experience includes representing manufacturers in the San Diego area in a broad range of alcoholic beverage licensing, compliance and other regulatory matters. Ms. Black represents clients’ licensing and regulatory needs before state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as wholesale and retail sales, distribution, manufacture and importation of alcoholic beverages. She assists clients with the acquisition of licenses, permits, label approvals and bonds, as well as all aspects of corporate compliance.

    Litigation

    Ms. Black takes pride in representing individuals in need of legal assistance in pursuing a number of legal disputes, including personal injury claims, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination. She represents business in litigation matters, including enforcement of contracts and agreements, employment law matters, and business disputes.
